I believe that Boy Meets World taught me life lessons. The episodes may only be twenty five minutes long, but long enough to have a lasting impact on me. They tug at my heartstrings but only because the show was not afraid of pushing the envelope. Hot button topics were pressed and emotions always run high when I tune into the show.
I believe Mr. Feeney’s outlandish way of teaching lessons has taught me that life does not give hand outs and you have to work hard to succeed.
I believe Shawn taught me that everyone experiences imperfection and it is okay to let that imperfection show through. Although he may have had troubles drinking or finding himself spiritually, he reminds me in the darkest of times, it is okay to let people help in times of need. Throughout his journey of finding who his real mother is, I have learned to respect where I come from even if the truth is hard to accept.
I believe Mr. Mathews taught me that no matter where you come from you should be proud of who you are. His experience of being less than average father proved to be inspiring. He expressed to Cory that he worked hard at his job, knowing that it was less than perfect, because he wanted Cory to do better in life. Mr. Mathews’ tough exterior is only a façade for his children so they can realize how to become responsible individuals.
I believe I learned the most important lessons from Cory and Topanga. Their relationship taught me that there is no greater power in the world than love. They had their ups and downs but they taught the most important lesson….that marriage is sacred. People lose sight of how important marriage is, but not Cory and Topanga. When they fought, they worked things out. When they disagreed, they worked things out. When they struggled, well they struggled together and became each other’s anchors. Cory and Topanga’s relationship taught me that I need to strive for a relationship like theirs. One where we do not forget the importance of love and support.
I believe that Boy Meets World taught me a lesson in each episode. No matter how controversial the subject matter may be, the show broke down those barriers to depict real human struggles. Because of that show, I will never settle for mediocre, never forget my family roots, remember that family is there to help in times of need, and remember to strive for a relationship like Cory and Topanga.
